Olympus Pen F and FL600R Flash Help

This is about a new purchased Olympus FL 600R Flash and an Olympus Pen F. My problem is that when I take a picture using live view, the flash fires, and the preview shows a correctly exposed Flash picture. When I use the viewfinder, which shuts off live view, the flash fires; however, THE PREVIEW IS VERY DARK AS IF THE FLASH DIDN'T FIRE. The manuals are of little use. The google search of the internet did not provide any help. This problems does not happen when I put the Olympus FL 300R flash on the Pen F. Both live and viewfinder taken pictures look properly exposed with flash. The flash is set at the basic TTL A setting. The flash is mounted on the camera.
Does someone have experience or knowledge on how to correct this problem? I somehow have reached an exasperation point in try to make it work.
Thanks in advance for ANY suggestions and help.
Terry Sandlin

I understand why you are posting this "locally", but the most logical thing to do might be to contact Olympus. Sounds like a possible design flaw.

Something doesn't sound right...my fl600 works flawlessly on my em1.1 and em1.2 in either mode. I can't remember, does the pen f come with a separate flash (FL-LM3), and does it happens with that one too?

I would think it would be a setting problem except for the FL300. Is there a setting on the FL600 that might be causing this? If there doesn't appear to be a setting on the flash, I think it is time to call Olympus support.

yeah...sorry, I missed that the op tried the 300 and it was fine. I agree, call Olympus.

Thank you for your replies. I must also tell you that the FL600R works fine on my Olympus D E M10. This is such a weird problem.

Hate to suggest it...but did you reset your camera back to manufacturers default...gulp, as I know how long it can take to set one up.

I will try it again. I want you to know that though I have two graduate degrees including research and evaluation, the Olympus menu system remains confusing to me.

As someone that designs logical interfaces for a living, I would LOVE to redesign their menu system.

Dear Cdouthitt,
Your suggestion worked!!! I was getting ready to send the flash back to B&H. Thank you so much.
While you are redesigning their menu system and becoming an international hero, could you also have them put in a usable index in their almost minimal manuals. With today's word processing there is no excuse for not having extensive facile indexes in manuals.
You and this forum saved the day.
MANY THANKS

Yea! Good suggest, Cdouthitt, even though it will take him a week to get the settings back to where he had them.

It will take time; on the other hand, as I keep adding settings I have a good chance of finding out which setting was causing my crazy problem.
