My D7100 arrives at the end of the month. All of my experience is Nikon 2020 f film, what should I be considering for the first two lenses for the D7100

Good choices would be the 18-140mm, 55-300mm, 70-300mm. The FX 28-300mm is also good for the D7100. Good luck.

If I had it to do over, knowing what I do now, I would have purchased the Nikon 16-35 or Tamron 15-30, and the Sigma 24-105.

Rick: there are a number of choices that really depend on what type of photography you gravitate to. EG, I would hate to be without my 105 Micro Nikkor-- but it's not a lens I would generally recommend. The 18-140 is a nice range, however if I was a landscape guy, I would go with the 16-35 mentioned earlier. My "replacement" for the 18-140 is a 16-85 & I've used this one the most on trips. Personally I would avoid the 18-55 "kit" lens. Some like it; I'm not one that does. I see it a lot for sale for $25-$30 dollars used. I certainly wouldn't pay much more than that. On the subject of used: there's no reason to pay retail when there are a lot of used lenses on Adorama, KEH, and B&H. I prefer KEH for their generous ratings.... good luck. Love the camera....

All around Great lens for everything for convenience I would go with Tamron 16mm-300mm. Light weight , great shots, and fair priced. I have used this 90% of the time. A second lens with I use a lot is the 35 mm 1.8. Good luck in your choices. 📷📷📷📷📷📷📷📷📷📷📷📷

The i8-140 is a very versatile lens and takes great images, so that would be my pick for only one lens. I was fortunate and purchased my D7100 on sale at Costco, and it was offered with two lens, the 18-140 and the 55-300 and they both are great, but latter purchased a Tamron 150-600 mainly for using with birds, so do not use the 55-300 very often anymore.
