Gadget Trash

The U.N. has reported that "gadget trash" is piling up in Asia, and it is becoming a greater problem there,
http://money.cnn.com/2017/01/16/technology/e-waste-asia-increase-problem/index.html?iid=ob_homepage_deskrecommended_pool
partly because of their increased use of electronic gadgets, partly because of shorter lifecycles for many things, and partly because some trash from countries with tighter standards, the U.S. for example, is now being shipped there. It seems to me that there should be "mining income" from all of that stuff - separating it into related materials and then recycling - especially in low-wage areas, but that doesn't seem to be happening.

I have two older desktop (towers) and six laptops to dispose of. Not sure what to do with them. The laptops are older ones and have XP installed. All have problems from bad keyboards to bad HD's. I've removed the HD's from the towers. There should some salvageable parts in them. RAM chips, disk drives, power supplies etc. I'm going to check with a couple of small computer repair places nearby and see if they want them. It's a shame to just throw them in a dumpster.

is an electronics and computer recycling center here in Phoenix. You might try for your area. They took all
my old phones and computers. Think they ship most to asia.
