Difference between D7100 and D7200

I have a D7100 with which I have taken about 4500 photos. I was given a D750 for Christmas with which I have taken a out 1000 photos. I have noticed the D750 pereforms all functions faster than the D7100. I understand the differences between the FX sensor verses the DX sensor. My main question, how much og advantage comes from the EXPEED. 4 processor verses the EXPEED. 3 processor?
Since I have several DX lens, I am considering if I would benefit by upgrading to the D7200 which also has the EXPEED. 4 processor. Or should I wait and save up for the D500 which has the EXPEED 5 processor? The D750 handles low light well and the D7100 does a good job if it has enough light.

From the D7000 to the D7100 is a fairly large jump. It's smaller move from the D7100 to the D7200. Basically if you are having problems with the memory buffer filling up, the D7200 right now might be worth your money.

But the move to a D500 is extremely significant! That is very likely to change your photography in a short time. Even if the memory buffer on the D7100 is a problem you might want to continue using it for awhile longer just to make it a little quicker that you have a D500. That is especially true if you shoot any sports, birds in flight, or skittisk wildlife.

The D750 and the D7100 make a good combination. As for getting the D7200, that's a judgement call. You can sell the D7100 on ebay. Try some comparisons.

Read comparisons and specs, and decide what features are important to you.

I felt the Expeed 4 was a nice upgrade, not overwhelming, but nice with additional buffer. Then I got the D500 and it was like going from a Honda to a Maserati! If you are not keeping the D750, make the jump all the way to D500. I have the D500 with D7200 as backup, but will probably shuffle my setup a bit. I think a D7200 with D750 makes a potent combinantion or a D800e with D500, primarily because of similarity of controls. If budget is no issue, I see many professionals with D5 and D500 as backup.

I agree with your general comments. However, whether the D500 will likely "...change your photography" will depend on what the poster shoots. Your last sentence offered as an aside is actually a critical consideration.

I have to agree, it is the combination that I currently have and love it.

One of the biggest differences between the d7100 and the d7200 is a larger buffer in the d7200. If you are not shooting action shots, the upgrade is not really worth it, in my opinion. The d500 would be a better upgrade to the d7100. Since you already have the d750, you may be better invested in better glass. FX lenses may be used on DX cameras, so keep your d7100 as a backup camera and invest in lenses rather than another camera.
