My husband's best friend's daughter called me and told me she's engaged and she asked if I could take pictures for their announcements. YA! I'm honored and excited. But I need posing ideas for a same sex engagment session (please don't turn this into if you think it's right or wrong, I'm just looking for posing ideas).

I want to make this special and wonderful, her father past away in December and my husband and I would do anything for his girls. So in other words, these need to be knock your socks off in honor of her father.

MWAC,
I have zero experience with this but it did intrigue me so I searched around and found this website. Maybe it will inspire you: http://blog.martinphotography.ca/?tag=same-sex-couple-wedding-photography

So these are for the announcement?

I'd check youtube for "female posing ideas" because there are certain poses that work better on females than males.

Other than that...let us know how it went.

I would treat it the same as if it were a man and a woman. There really is not much difference in how they interact and share eachothers company, they will enjoy and look great in any pose that another couple would look good in. Hope you do good.

IF you know them, then you know how they interact with each other. Put emotion and feeling into your poses and they will be a hit. I have photographed several "same-sex" couples and it just comes down to people-are-people. Use and modify the poses you have always used for couples in love.

I hope it goes well and from what I have seen you do with a camera I am sure it will. No ideas on poses sad to say. I am glad they know you and feel that they can come to you to have this done!

My two penarth
To get that shot that gets across the love between a couple then is it all about the eyes?

By this I mean there will be instances where we connect with our partner and communicate just by looking.. I can still look at my wife, say nothing and yet that love\adulation gets communicated louder than if it were shouted. If you can snap that look, it will be a 'keeper' and be cherished for the rest of their time together. Can it be 'posed' or turned on, or off?? I have no idea but it is usually a personal thing that does not usually get captured.

Just me thinking aloud and good luck

John
