All-in-one FILEHUB update

A couple of weeks ago I posed the question of how to transfer raw pics from my camera card directly onto a multi TB hard drive without the use of a computer or iPad. The suggestion from the forum was that an inexpensive way to do it may be to use a device made by Ravpower called the all-in-one FILEHUB. ( about 40$ on AMAZON). So, I bought one of these devices as a cheap alternative to the several hundred dollar solution that is readily available from most photography stores. I am happy to report that it works like a charm. My first attempt was not successful but as soon as I read the fine print I learned that the hard drive can not be formatted as an Mac device and my 2 TB HD was formatted for MACBOOK back up. Once I reformatted the disk as FAT it worked fine. I transferred about fifty RAW images from my camera SD card to the hard drive and then using my computer ingested the photos into Photo Mechanic and then Lightroom. So of 40$ and the size of a deck of cards, this will be a great backup solution when I travel.

Also, at 6500 mAh, it can charge an iPad, which is a real power hog.

I've used it in a hotel room where I had a free wired network connection but they charged for wireless. Set it up as a mini-router and it worked great! The battery is a lifesaver, too.

Thanks for the update. Is this it? What do they mean by "hard drive companion"?
