A strange bird showing up and causing excitement!

All birders living in or visiting Brevard County Florida are excited about the arrival of a smooth-billed ani. He showed up last week just outside the gates of the Viera Wetlands, where it is probably building a nest, since it has been hanging around the same spot. It may be the same one spotted there a few years ago. This bird normally lives in the Caribbean and is a fairly common visitor to the Keys and southern Florida.

Thanks for the report. Nice photo. Many years ago I saw one near Homestead, Florida. If this one hangs around I may have to make a trip to find it. Seems like each year something unusual turns up in S. Florida. Last year it was a flamingo near Sanibel.

If "ani" is the plural, would "anus" be the singular?

Always fun to photograph a bird that is not "normal" for a given location.
