CPL for Sigma 8-16mm lens?

I would think twice about putting a CPL on a lens that wide. CPLs & ultra wide angle lenses do not mix. If you shoot a blue sky, you will get massive 'banding' (uneven shades of blue).

It depends on what your subject is and what effect you are going for. If you are shooting subjects with lots of sky, you can get banding:

But if you are just trying to improve color saturation by using the polarizer to reduce specular highlights, you can get great results, even at wider settings.

Also, if you get the banding, you may be able to adjust the filter a bit and/or post process the banding out of the picture.

I agree that super-wides do not produce good results with polarizers.

Look into Capture One Pro's LCC ability. What making one be sure to check off for dust removal and again for wide angle lenses

This You Tube video is only about 3-1/2 minutes. (It was made with the 7th version, they are now up to the 10th version.)
