Lack of sharpness concerns me. You may have slight backfocus here.

Even on tripod, the 160 SS (at 600mm magnification/and/or subject movement) scares me !

If this is a Tamron G1 lens, I would consider shooting at 500-530mm and cropping with pixel enlargement for a better IQ result.

Seconding this.

Also S/160 is too low for that kind of range. I always shot S/1000 or above to get a decent stable shot.
Sometimes 1600 to 3200 if it moves very fast (like hummingbirds).


CM: does your lens support stabilization? (The sigma contemporary and sport should have). It should help you a lot if you enable it.

A pretty bird. Picture could be sharper. I would consider using at least 1/600 shutter speed. Also, since you were using a tripod, did you forget to turn IS off?

It's a good shot, C M, but on download it doesn't look sharp. I have absolutely no suggestions since I shot with a rubber-banded point & shoot!
