Viewing pictures on computer while still in the camera

Does anyone know if there is a way to connect a camera to a computer or laptop, so I can view a picture I just took without downloading. Sometimes its hard to tell if I have it focused sharp enough, even when I magnify it. I went through the instructions and couldn't find anything. I have a Canon 5D3 and 7D2 if that matters.

You can tether shoot with your canon cameras easy enough, the shots will show on your computer in moments, but in order to see ANYTHING on a computer it must be downloaded to it.

How about a USB cord to your smart tv?

That will work also with a Canon camera.

Use the HDMI port, no download required.

I don't have a smart TV. I was hoping to use it in the field

Just buy a Hoodman loupe. It helps me tremendously indoors and out but is priceless when it comes to viewing your images on the LCD screen outdoors in bright sunshine.

Use Lightroom. It does exactly what you're asking.

Check out Camranger - you can view both in real time and post-shot via a smartphone or tablet or PC.

If you have a tablet chances are you can tether. The Older Canons had a basic 'live view' setting so you could tether, adjust settings and shoot by hitting enter. Tech has changed but chances are camera's kept this facility.
An awful lot of professional landscape and product photographers use this method on a laptop.

With a wi-fi sd card and my iPad, I'm able to view shots a few seconds after exposure.

You can tether to a tablet or laptop. You will have to go to the Canon website and find support for your model of camera then down load their program. You will need patientce to do this as their website is not so user friendly. And you will need a Canon cable. It looks like a phone charger cable but is not. Not sure of ther difference but mine won't work without the correct cable. The Canon cable I have was supplied with my T3i. It is only 3 feet long and that is a nusiance. Looking for longer cables I found them to be very expensive. I would try to find one at a local camera store if you have one nearby.

Once downloaded and installed operation is pretty straight forward. Tethering gives a lot of options so take a lot of time to practice and learn the software.

CamRanger is what I use and it works great, but there is a lot less expensive similar DIY out on the 'net.
$250 vs $35.
I think this is it: http://pixeldiarist.blogspot.com/2014/05/diy-wireless-remote-control-for.html?m=1

It's called tethering, and there are many ways.
