I have a D300 that could use a professional sensor cleaning, etc. I'd appreciate any reports of experience for this type of work in the Tucson, AZ area. We are only 90 miles from Phoenix so that's a possible destination. I'm reluctant to ship the camera for work. Thanks.

I suggest that you contact Nikon in San Diego and make arrangements to ship it to them. Nothing against local stores in Tucson or Phoenix (very few in either place) but Nikon will do the work promptly and properly.

Tempe Camera Repair... actually, a very professional place. In Tempe, a PHX suburb.

You're welcome. If you are going to take the camera to the Tempe Store, I'd call and see if you can arrange a quick turn around appointment. I don't know if they do that, but if they know you're traveling from Tucson and would be there at a given time, they might be accommodating.

If you need to kill some time while they take care of it. The store upstairs will be quite a place to look around. Otherwise, a great place to grab lunch is The Cornish Pasty Co. at Hardy and University. This is about 1/4 mile west of Tempe Camera.

We're traveling this week but I'll contact Tempe Camera when we return and let you know. We'll actually drive right through Phx on the way back but I carried the lighter P900 instead of the D300 on this family trip.

Tucson Camera Repair on Oracle. They will repair almost any brand but specialize in Nikon, and are an authorized Nikon retailer. They do first rate work, are honest, and are reasonably priced. They also specialize in sensor cleaning. They will perform as well as anyone in Phoenix and you won't need to jump on I-10 twice.

Wish that pasty shop had been there when I lived there! I love the 'letters from home!' And upstairs is where I spent a lot of time... and money...

I second or third Tucson Camera Repair. I have used them to repair my cameras all the way back to the film days. They do great work. I have bought several cameras from them too and excellant customer service. I had issues with one of the caneras I bought and John, the owner contacted Nikon and convinced them to upgrade my camera for free. I just bought my Nikon D5500 from them and John told me to wait till it was on sale and saved me $100.

Don't forget KRIS Camera. They're just off I-10 as you go south out of Phoenix. I prefer them to Tempe Camera. (Tempe always smiles and says, "Did you buy that here?" - insinuating they won't fix it unless I did.)

I'm pleased to see good recommendations for Tucson CR since I didn't relish a trip to Phx. Thanks for all the comments.
