Just got a Canon T6i thinking the wi fi feature would be nice. Cant seem to connect to my Iphone. Followed all the steps. Iphone says to turn camera on... it is on. Am I doing something wrong. Tech support says to contact Apple...apple says to contact Canon. Thanks
I had to download an ap called Canon Camera Connect on my tablet to get photos from my husband's Canon wifi enabled sx700. But it worked. We just had to figure it out.
I downloaded the Canon Camera Connect to my Samsung phone first and could use my phone as a remote shutter plus transfer pics over. Then I downloaded the app to my iPad. I had issues connecting it so called Canon support and they stepped me through it. Now they both work. I wouldn't have been able to figure it out myself how to get two gadgets connected. Remember...it works through WiFi and not Bluetooth.

Take a piece of masking tape, write, with a magic marker, in big block letters, "NIKON" and put it over the Canon label. It will start working immediately.
Hooking up my Panasonic is a multi step procedure. I need to first start the app on the device and then go to the camera to start it and then to the wireless on the Setup on the device to connect.
Camera turned on
wifi enabled in camera
to settings on iPhone
click on wifi wait for list of available wifi's to come up
select the camera wifi, whatever you called it mine is 6d
once your iPhone has the checkmark in the wifi area go back out
open camera connect app
For three years now I have use my EOS-6D to wi-fi to my iPad when I shoot portraits. You must have wi-fi enabled on both the sending unit (your camera) and the receiving unit (my iPad, your iPhone) and the receiving unit's existing wi-fi connection must be "forgotten." You also must have the free joining software installed on the receiving unit in order to join the two.
Since you use an iPhone, go to the Apple Store and download it to your iPhone. It will install an icon with which to start it, then follow the advice shown by those below.
Good luck and have fun with it.
hwerner, did you download Canon Camera Connect?
I did.. seems to keep losing connection
