Nikon D800. Poor response from Nikon.

My Nikon D800 is fairly new, with less than 500 clicks. Now I find that the message FULL comes into the control panel when I put in a CF or SD card. I have tried several cards with the same response. Unfortunately it is out of warranty as I have cancer and have been out of action for over a year. Nikon's response was to send it for repairs. Has anyone of you come across this problem ?

grab your instruction manual and do a full camera reset to default.
Just might fix it.

Sorry for your Cancer Hope you can fight it. Nikon's response was what I would expect I would send it in with a card to see what is the problem

Damn I hope you're able to reset the camera. Get well soon and take lots of pics.

Format the card to clear the old images, then see what message you get.

Try the cards in another camera, if possible. In addition to doing the reset, try this. Remove the battery, turn the camera on, and press the shutter button.

EDIT: Format the SD card with your computer and then try it. Of course, you'll have to format it in your camera, too.

I would NOT call that a POOR response from Nikon. That is a standard response from most camera manufactures. Nikon is not sure what the problem is, so they need to see it. What is POOR about their response. You seem to be taking a very negative attitude about a very responsive and responsible company.

The OP is fighting cancer. He may not have the patience or understanding the rest of us have. Come on man!

Sure Bill, but he has the patience to drag the good name of a good company through the mud? Patience and understanding can be in short supply, and I understand his complaint but Nikon is trying to work a problem from afar. Once the OP has eliminated the possible issues (by going through the manual) and if he reaches the same issue, then Call Nikon again. If the agent gives him a similar reaction, he NEEDS to ask for the issue to be escalated or ask for a supervisor. It has been 3 or 4 years since I worked there so I'm not sure who is still there but Marc & Rachel are both good supervisors and work diligently to resolve issues. HOWEVER, both may have been promoted and or reassigned so most any supervisor should help (though like any other large company, some are better than others). Many of the people that I knew are retired or working on their own as photographers.

Oldtigger is correct, Soli. When all else fails with electronic items, always try the Default Reset before sending it in. I am wishing you well.
