The Street Photography Section went live one year ago on January 9th in 2016, after a longer than normal discussion period (admin was very busy) that did a lot to hype expectations. It took off with a bang and has turned out to be everything hoped for!
There is just one overriding reason too: We have a very pleasant discussion group, with a wonderful range of images and philosophies, all of which derive directly from the fabulous group of people who post here! I would post a list thanking each person individually except it is too long and also I am very much afraid that I would miss someone in the tabulation and that would be embarrassing!
I am personally looking forward to even more diversification during the next year! New people with new ideas and different styles of Street Photography. Currently there are just over 500 members subscribed, there are 900 some threads, and just at 7500 posts. That is pretty active for a section restricted to just one genre of photography. There seems to be a steady expansion rate, so we can expect this section to become more fun and more interesting with each month that passes.
And that is thanks to all of you!
Greeting Adaflo,
Thanks for the info on Street Photography section. I have been a member hogger for some years but have not been aware of all the sections, or how to become members of sections on interest.
I have a renewed interest in street photography. I would like to joint the group of 500 or so to learn more about street photography, and how to use it. Please inform me on how to become a member of your section.
Thanks

On any page in UHH go to the bottom of the page and click on "All
Sections" (over on the right side). That takes you to a huge list of every section that UHH has to offer. The Street Photography section is relatively new so it is nearly at the bottom (third one up). There is a button there for "Subscribe" and that is the one to click.
Thanks for the quick response. I followed your instructions and it appears that at some point I subscribed, but for the life of me I don't remember doing it.
Possibly I received a post last year at the introduction of the new site and subscribed without following up. In any event I would like to re-introduce myself. I have been shooting nature, wildlife, cityscapes, along with a limited amount of event photography for quite a few years now. I have the pleasure of teaching a high school photography class where I have promised "Street Photography" to be included on our photo excursions.
Because of the fact that I didn't have a lot of experience myself I hesitated in this area. I purchased a Fuji pro 1 when it was introduced for the sole purpose of street photography but it gathered dust on the shelf until May 2016 when I dusted it off and hit the streets. I now have an excitement about wandering the streets for the unexpected. I will post a few captures for critique soon.
I do have a couple of questions:
1. Except for the shear joy of shooting... how can street photography images be used without getting model releases from businesses, and people?
2. I have been looking at the Fuji Xt2... wondering if anyone that uses this body could provide me some insight in the primary difference between it and the Xpro1. I always had frustrations with the focusing system on the Xpro1 which seemed so different from my Nikon bodies. I often lost shots due to my fumbling with the camera. I was told that the Xt2 is more similar to the functions of a DSLR... is this true?
Thanks in advance
Congratulations, Apaflo of Alaska. Thank you for sponsoring and administering one of the most enjoyable sections on the UHH Forum. Great images abound here!
This is one of my favorite sections to post in.
Thank you, Apaflo. We owe a lot of it's success to you!
