Yesterday was a very cold but sunny day when I took this photo of a Bald Eagle
contemplating his next meal.

I used 800mm. Hand held photo. Distance was about 125-150 feet (cropped photo).

Canon 5Dsr - Canon 400 II DO f4 - Canon 2.0x III - 1/500 - f/11 - ISO @ 400.

I am trying to prove the Canon 2x III extender will do a great job using the right camera and lens. This is all auto-focus.
I have been hand holding 'all' my shots for more than 6 years.

I thank you very much, SnappyHappy, for your good reply.

Thank you very much, Robert. We will be getting another 6 inches of snow tomorrow. My small electric snow blower
is getting a good work-out this Winter.

Absolutely stunning... majestic... a brilliant and powerful capture! Thank you for sharing! I long for the day that I have the opportunity for such a shot, and successfully pulling it off!

Tell your snow blower it has my sympathy.

Just be grateful you don't live in Mammoth Lakes CA. The mountain ski area it serves has had 3-7 feet depending on where on the mountain you are. And three more storms lined up for this week. Prediction is 20 feet by the time this series of storms is over.

Some good friends of mine lived up there and the house they bought like many there has a second porch and front door on the second floor for when the snow piles up. Solid log walls with a thick layer of insulation and paneling on the inside.

I understand California is being hit with the worst snow and rain storm in 25 years. I pray that there is no loss of life. I am sure many will be without electricity unless they have generators.
This has been a hell of a year for extreme weather on the west and east coasts.

Thank you very much, Dan. I just happened to be in the right time and place with great equipment plus about 50 years of photography experience.

There was a large tree branch and smaller tree branches covering most of the Bald Eagle, so I couldn't
show much more than I did here.

Thank you very much, infocus.
