Has anybody had as much trouble setting up and keeping it set as I have when trying to use the SB5000 flash unit with a D500? I could not get it work so went to the local camera shop and after clicking around the camera menu found a setting that I had missed. Great. Took it home, tried it out and worked fine. Planned to use it tomorrow, put it all together with the WR-R10 of course, and nothing works. It is supposed to require pairing only once but now it says "No response". Total frustration so just get my old SB800 and go with that and try not to throw the 5000 up against the wall!
I'm not an early adopter and your problem illustrates why. Hope you get the problem solved and post the answer. Sorry you are having this difficulty.
That's Nikon's Premier flash unit for $596 from B&H. There may not be many on this forum who can offer you advice. If not, I would suggest you call Nikon Services about your problem. Or download a pdf manual on the flash, if you only got a guide manual with your purchase. Good luck.
On the D500 you have to go into settings and turn on the flash
Don't throw it against the wall, mail it to me!! All kidding aside, I have 3 and have only had to pair them once. Make sure that the menu on the SB 5000 where you choose radio or ir that you have chosen radio. Then, it will communicate. The only time I had a problem was when the "link mode" was set to "pin" and not "pairing". Good luck. They work flawlessly once you get comfortable. Don't give up!!
