The beach at Torrey Pines, but nobody was really there

In support of the East Side of the Sierras photo I just posted and the mention that I'm working on conceptualizing a social comment series on how we all turn our backs on our fellow humans, here's another potential piece. This is really a compilation of all the figures in the piece added in, the storm clouds, the birds, and the little boy, none were in the original photo. As you look, hopefully you notice that even though there are lots of people in the photo, they are really all alone and not having any interaction with anybody else, except the child who seems to acknowledge the presence of the person holding the camera.

Comments and suggestions are very welcome. You are the first ones, besides my wife, to see these images, and she's a psychologist so you can imagine what she might be thinking. I would like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for looking, and please download to get much better color
Jon

Bobspez, hmmm, eery, I hadn't quite thought of it that way, but I like it now that you said it. Thank you for looking and for your comment. Jon

I like what you've done to the figures in this image. What program and filters did you use! Nicely done!

Hi Jon !!! Haven't seen you in awhile, but glad to have now. I love the concept of this image and it speaks to many of us I'm sure. The color, overall is striking, and the image itself is very powerful. However, I would like to make a suggestion. The gentleman to the right appears to be proportionate to everyone, except the lady in front at the far left. I have given this some considerable thought, while I think it may be best to enlarge the lady slightly or place her slightly more center and closer to the incoming wave. I have also considered maybe to reduce the size of the gentleman, but reconsidered that thought. This is just my observation and suggestion. Hope things are well with you, and again glad to see you back.
Dave

Hi Snap Shot, from the beginning, the people were all taken from individual photos using a Nikon D800e with various lenses and then carefully masked in Photoshop to eliminate the original backgrounds. Then compositing the various components, again in Photoshop, adjusting the many individual layers until I got somewhat close to what I was trying to get. I think my Photoshop skills are still at the leading edge of the learning curve and I admit that I have a long way to go. Thanks for looking and for your comment.

Hi Dave, as you know, there is no cure for being infected by the photography bug, and I've got a bad case of photographyitis. So, even though my business commitments eat up much of my time, I'm never very far from a camera, or at least thinking about a camera. So, it's funny (not the haha kind) how many times I can look a something and not see something that is grossly wrong - you look and nailed the problem immediately. Yes, I agree, there are size relationship issues with this photo, and I simply hadn't "seen" them. Back to Photoshop for the fix. Thank you, thank you for pointing this out to me.
