The Eastern Sierras and Mt. Whitney un-pano'd

Since this is my first ever post to this section, and since this is THE part of the forum for trying to make images artistic, I'd like to explain what I was trying to do here. A few months ago, I found myself on the east side of the Sierra Nevada mountains, and since I was alone for some much needed solitude, I could do whatever I wanted and spend as long as I wanted at it. I had just gotten a Gigapan and wanted to try my skills at a pano or two, and I was really touched by the beauty and serenity of area. Well, my pano came out better than I expected, but like all pano's, it was long and skinny, and although I was pleased with the outcome, I decided I would try to make my pano a normal dimensioned photo, so I squeezed the ends towards the center, and the Sierras became surreal, but the foreground was ugly. Well, that was easy to fix, but I wasn't particularly happy with the sky, so into my sky folder, and another import, some masking and color adjusting, and I was thinking that I should see Charleston Heston with a robe on coming out of the mountains holding commandments 11-15. So, I added some pelicans to give it more of a surreal feel, and finally I added the little boy playing innocently in the foreground, totally alone in the world, but not paying any attention to the mountains behind him. This might become one of a series of social comment pieces I'm currently conceptualizing with a focus on how we as humans all too often turn our backs on each other. Anyway, it's a bit 'out there' I know. Any feedback or comments will be greatly appreciated.

Bye the way, I'm happy I found this group and I'm happy to be here.

thanks for looking, and please download to see much better colors

Transparent Ice Mountains with fire behind, nothing bold, but the mood is set.

Since this is my first ever post to this section, ... (show quote)

The image is fun to explore visually. I enjoyed it, and welcome to the site.

One piece of advice for you. When you click the download file when posting, make sure you have a larger file size included in the post, otherwise we won't get to appreciate any details in the imagery. The download is for representing the image better.

Hi Bozsik, first, thank you for the 'welcome aboard', it's a little lonely being the 'new guy' and trying to feel my way around. Second, thank you for the tip on a larger file size, I did try to make this file as small as I could because, for some reason I was concerned that the uhh site wouldn't allow a larger file. So, when I saw the post and downloaded the photo I was wondering why it looked so fuzzy and why it was so small. I have soooo much to learn and soooo little time. Thank you for looking and for your very helpful tip. Jon
