Very good! The wolf spider indeed looks imposingly large, even in the pix. No idea what the green spider might be. I hear that huntsmen, though huge, are actually pretty mellow. Is that true?

Hi Mark, the wolf was a young one and not more than half grown .I was able to get within 6 inches of it with the lens so it appears bigger, The huntsman was on the ceiling hard to get to. Yes they are generally placid but can jump quite a distance if threatened and can bite ,not poison I have never heard of one biting but its quite a shock when they jump, often straight at you if you are silly enough to annoy them..... not me I creep up carefully and slowly
The little green fellow is a Pale green/yellow orb-web spider, its nocturnal.Yvonne

Was the wolf dead? Looks unusually flat to ground, splayed pedipalps, tucked-under leg same in all pics, etc. Neat greenie! Some huntsman spiders have a very painful bite, and some are very aggressive!

No, the wolf was very much alive but had an injury to one of its legs that slowed it down but it still managed to scuttle off and took its moth with it.You con see the injury in the last pic. Our ozzie huntsman must be a bit laid back, maybe they are too well fed, but I dont know of anyone having been bitten, however they will jump straight at you if you show aggression. He may have looked a little stunned with a lens 6 inches from his face and a flash going off several times but managed to take its dinner to go. Yvonne
