Thanks, waegwan. A good point. I had assumed it was the chair. Looking closely, though, maybe not. Possibly the chair and the can are close enough together that he's kind of wedged between them. It could work if he was able to support a good part of his own weight, using the objects more for balance than for support.

It is a curious shot for sure, it will be interesting to see what discussion it brings up. :-)

Looks like he is meditating...note the closed eyes and the way his finger is touching his thumb. That is a Zen-like technique to focus ones' consciousness. It works great as I learned when I used it to keep from talking back to a former employer who loved to berate his staff about meaningless perceived "faults". I eventually quit that job and the boss is now 'doing 10 to 12' for fraud and tax evasion.

I agree with meditating. Not just the hands but the shoulders and head position. Also I believe his eyes are closed. I think he is leaning against the bench; there is no shadow near the can. His unusual balance is likely part of his attempt to meditate.

BTW, nice street shop. Looks like an interesting area if a guy feels able to meditate..... likely there are a number of cool shops in the area.

He looks like he's meditating to me, too. Not seeing any real support for him, I think perhaps he's preparing to float.

Hey, Guys, thanks a lot. There are some interesting thoughts here. Meditation never crossed my mind, as this is a four-lane street, but he does look like he may be somewhere else.
