Wireless radio flashes

Can anyone tell me if any of the wireless radio flashes works thru or around windows? I am looking to use wireless flashes for bird photography with the camera being indoors shooting thru glass.
Nikon off brand units.
Thank-you.

Yep.
Curious, what brand/model are you using?
Some work better than others.
My Phottix Odins work up to the Max normal sync setting and will do high-speed sync.
Have another older set with a Calumet brand that will only go to 1/180th. Anything faster and it doesn't sync with the shutter.

Interesting question - I have just tried my Yongnuo 622 triggers with my Godox Ving flash and (with the help of my wife) I can confirm the flash will fire in the lounge when I am outside standing in road! My set up will work through walls - which is pretty cool.

Thanks for asking this - I am now going to have a go at setting up a camera and a couple of flashes outside (around the bird bath), sit inside (where I can see said bird bath) and fire off some shots without leaving the sofa.

My Canon ones do. I would think most should fire around or through things.
The effective distance may vary.

They're not line of sight. Windows or walls or trees or rocks are not an issue.

Have you tried just one flash to see if you can get good results thru glass. I'd think that the glass would cause the speedlite to give a reflection on glass for a very poor result. You may try it first and if it doesn't work at first then try a polarizer on the lens to see if that removes the glare. If you get the results you like, then proceed with some radio triggers on your speedlites. You will have to determine if you can stay in sync, or if you will need high speed sync before you purchase triggers. Some with with high speed sync and some don't. Experiment first.

If you are doing what I assume you are thing of doing, you probably won't like the results. The more effort you put into your photography, the better you'll like your results. If you think you are going to read the paper and sip your tea in the morning whilst the hummingbirds sip nectar from your feeders, and you are going to click on a remote button as your setup does the work - you probably aren't going to be all that thrilled with the results.

I use the Phottix wireless TTL trigger for my Nikon SB800's. Works great. Think of radio triggers in the same way you would think about a radio. Since radio waves go through walls, windows, steel structures, so will the the Photix.

I think they all do (or should)! I have used the Canon's and Yungnuo's in said manner without issues. Never had any issues with using PW's TT5's either!

I also use Phottix flash equipment with no problems.

Why bother? Shooting through windows is like putting any extremely poor quality filter in front of your lens. You're images will be terrible, shooting through standard window glass.

I think he is referring to not shooting through windows, but triggering the flash/flashes through it, or maybe both!

Thank-you all for your advise. For all you nay sayers it's for shooting birds when the light is low or it is snowing. Extra light is needed for fine detail. The large picture window faces east. For 3 hours a day say 11-2pm if the sun is strong coming in from the south the window does not degrade the image at all. Yes,the idea is to be warm and dry inside when it's cold and wet outside. A better Beamer on the single indoor flash does work but is a pain keeping it always at a 45 degree angle and I believe two flashes closer should work better. Closer with nothing in between should work well. I will post some pics once I get all the needed pieces.
