Any Help Identifying This Gadget

This gadget is sort of spring loaded. Pinching on the ends separates the curved "arms." Anyone have any ideas as what it is used for? Thanks and Happy New Year to all.

looks like a type of clevis pin, used to hold something in a locked condition.small ones were used to lock buttons in a buttonhole. Common with military dress uniforms.

I forgot to mention it is about 2 inches by 3 inches. And I agree it must be for locking something in position such as a clevis pin would do.

It's a hydrocoptiic marzel valve. I have heard about them, but this is the first one I've ever seen.

They separate the differential turning spring so that the gram-meter reads the lotus o delta type correctly.

Yes, that's what it is - actually a lynch pin. I have them on my snow blower axles, so I can let the wheels turn freely to make maneuvering easier when not blowing snow. Yours is much fancier, though.

It looks like some kind of old arm or leg restraint, can't tell its size from the photo.
