Sharpie: Happy, healthy and prosperous NEW YEAR to you, brother! I resolve to go through tens of thousands of computer-stored pictures and thin them out by at least 50%. I have to also expand my photography-acumen in the depth-of-field and perspective areas. I need to shoot more, too. Stay healthy, post more and have a great year!

We may be weak, or maybe we have medical problems that don't allow us to carry a heavy camera and lens combination. I tried a friend's FF camera (pro model but I don't remember which one) with an FX lens on it and it was just too heavy for me to be comfortable holding it steady. Therefore, when I went to upgrade my camera, I chose the D500. Since I don't enlarge any of my photos very large (except one and that one had Photoshop work done on it to make it look more like a painting), I shouldn't notice the difference. Where I might find a difference is when I heavily crop a photo and then enlarge just the one part, but I can live with it. Photography for me is a fun hobby that I will do more of when I finally decide to retire (again - did it once and didn't like it so I went back to work).

You are doing as well as the other thread, where you also belittled me and called me names for the phone auto speller changing exposer to "expose" and me not double checking. No later than an hour or so later you made the same mistake except that were on your home computer, were you not? Interesting that you chose to disregard THAT reply form me when I pointed it out to you.

Here we go again.

Thomas, Thomas, Thomas, here's another New Year's resolution suggestion for you, try to grow up!

You are the person that didn't read the post in question properly and then tried to criticize me for responding to it with an accurate response, which you apparently disagreed with. When I pointed that out politely you accused me of being drunk. It was YOU Thomas that didn't read properly in the first instance, tried to correct me, and then tried to insult me. That of course is your prerogative. As far as I am concerned my response to you was entirely appropriate, even if it was dripping with sarcasm. If you are so thin skinned that you can't take responsibility for your own mistakes, or accept a polite correction, or a response to an insult that YOU Thomas instigated then you appear to have a problem. You appear to be behaving like the little boy that ran crying to his mother screaming "Mommy, he hit me back!"

So, as you try growing up, also try growing a thicker skin, especially when you criticize others for commenting on your own mistakes. Adults own responsibility for their mistakes.

If you can't stand the heat, then stay out of the kitchen.

Lol! Sounds like you are describing yourself. Never one to take responsibility. Why don't you address the things I pointed out? Attacking me won't change your shortcomings. Lol! The poster doesn't want to change systems due to owning a selection of canon lenses. How is that comparing canon dslrs with canon FF mirrorless? Lol! You are one funny guy! You should give comedy a try!

I am going to stop giving in to GAS, and use the money I save for going places and doing more actual photography! What a unique thought!!!

That would be unique.
I wonder how many here keep exact tabs on exactly how much they spend on photography relate necessities...., I mean Gas!
I wonder who has the highest Gas quotient on UHH. I mean everything!
That means gear, airfares, hotels, web sites, printing....., everything!!!! LoL

I'm going to dump all the gear I seldom use, you know the gear I have for that undefined thing coming up that never comes up. You know, that cover shot just waiting for me to capture. You know, the good gear, the high quality body and lenses, the heavy stuff in case a wedding, super bowl once in a lifetime shoot presents itself.

Getting rid of all of it, going light - Olympus Pen F and a couple, OK maybe three or four small MFT lenses and taking it with me everywhere and getting back to shooting for fun, maybe not Ansel Adams quality, but fun doing it. Yep, that's the plan, watch the classified for upcoming Canon gear! Happy New Year everyone! Novots.

You had me until you mentioned Canon. Yes, dump your gear.

I'm going to take more photo classes. Nothing gets me more excited about taking pictures than working on an assignment for class.
