I would like input on a off brand ttl flash for my D7200. I am a hobbyist photographer wanting something better than the pop up flash. Your input would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm looking at the "Nissin Di700A Flash Kit with Air 1 Commander" with the idea that I would add another flash or two in time.

The Yongnuo brand has a few speed lights for the Nikon but two at this point stand out; the YN568EX and the YN685 N. I have two of the 568's and if I purchase another one I'll be going with the 685. Great flashes and do a great job for about 1/6 the cost of an equivalent Nikon speed light.

Thank you WayneT, I am storing that bit of information away for when I need to replace my current Nikon speed light.

I use 5 of the Altura TTL speedlights for Nikon, they have been very accurate and very dependable for almost 2 years now.

I've heard good things about Yaguno. Whatever you do, investigate flash diffusers for a softer light with speedlights.

I will also recommend Yungnuo, I have one for my Canons and hope to get a couple more with radio controler to start learning multiple flash. The ones they make for Nikon should be just as good.

I noticed recently that Yongnuo just released a new 900 series speed light for the Canon Robert.

I use the Yongnuo YN568ex does everything I could ask and has TTL and it will do 1/8000 of a second if u need it. I have had no problems and have used it for at least a year.
about $100.00

Yongnuo and Nissin are excellent alternatives to expensive speedlights.

I have the 600, it is such a clone of the Canon that the tutorials for Canon are useable by me.

There's another post (off brand flash) which started today. Additional info there. I'm following both with interest.

edfgrf1951.... I've been using the Phottix Mitros+ for over a year and haven't had any issues and the cost is manageable. Here are a few pictures from last night.

Hi,
I use a couple of manual Yongnuos for lighting my backgrounds and several TTL Alturas (on and off camera). I've been pleased with both of them. I recently bought a Nissin Di866 based on a suggestion on this group and it also seems to be a very good flash but I've not really put it through its paces yet. Take care & ...

Get a NIKON that won't break the bank. The SB 800 has been around a long time and you can get them MINT off ebay for a bargain. This flash was the best of the best at one time and will still give you everything you need. Inside just turn the flash head up and behind you, leave it on TTL and you will get great flash results. TRUST ME.
