Hey there! My name is Clint Calhoun and I have been lurking around this site for a couple of years now, but have never joined. The work that gets posted here is wonderful and I feel inspired every time the Photography Digest arrives in my Inbox. So I got up the courage (I'm a little shy) and registered and I hope my own work will be well-received. I'm a biologist from Rutherford County, North Carolina and have been working in the Hickory Nut Gorge area of North Carolina (that's the Chimney Rock/Lake Lure area if you are familiar with NC) for my entire career. I picked up photography as part of my work and it has blossomed into a wonderful hobby. I'm currently shooting a Canon EOS Rebel T3i and just trying to work on my craft. Always open to constructive criticism and advice. I look forward to participating on the site.
Hey, Clint. My name is Ed and I'm in Tryon, about 20 minutes away. I wish you had popped up earlier because I'm about to go to Arizona for a few months. I know your area pretty well but I'm sure you know a lot more 'spots'. I'm pretty sure you've done DuPont Forest?
Welcome to the group, Clint! That's a great area to be working in. The Lake Lure & Chimney Rock area is beautiful!

Hey Ed. Thanks for the welcome. Glad to know there's someone here so close to my location. I've been to Dupont a few times. It's nice over there. I make it over to Tryon every now and then, mostly to go up to Pearson's Falls.
Clint, when I return in April I'll give you a shout and maybe we can hook up. Fellow UHH'ers in this area of NC...any interest in a group meet sometime in the spring? Ed
Well, don't be too shy! You can learn many things on this forum... Check it all out, some people are quite witty! Occasionally, there,s the condescending fool, but usually we just watch them vent and spin for fun. Welcome!
Welcome to the forum. I've actually been to Chimney Rock state park a few time, several years ago, nice area. Now when I travel to NC I usually stay close to the coast. I have spent time in Ashville, Buxton, Chocowinity, Currituck & Dare counties, and numerous points along the parkway and have been to the top on Mt Mitchel several times. If my job and family weren't in PA I'd probably move to NC.
