I noticed that, Boomer, the Doberman-Poodle (the Doberman heritage is only in his mind), was gazing out the front door this afternoon. It was obvious to me that he was intently searching for any sign of incursion into his domain. Or, he may have just been waiting to sneak in yet another nap.

Anyway, I thought the composition might give me the opportunity to practice a bit with the 135 f/2.

Here are a couple of shots.

Very cute dog, and that 135 f2 is tack sharp with great bokeh - I want one! (my next lens)

He may have the look... but he's a little short on the intellect. To him E=BR1t (Energy=Begging Required for 1 Treat).

Thanks for viewing and commenting.

Thanks. The 135 is very nice. But, based on my copy, it is quite soft at f/2.0, sharper at f/2.8, and excellent by f/4. It just depends on how sharp you really need.

If really sharp + bokeh is what you want, and you can do without AF, then you might consider the Carl Zeiss Apo Sonnar T* 2/135 ZF.2. It's the lens I would probably have today if I had not purchased the Nikon already.

The first one is super. What a great photo to put a caption on. You can see the thought process working.

He waits on anyone and everyone. He barks to announce all arrivals, and then runs to the new person, family member, or complete stranger, to get his required petting.
