Shooting An Ak-47 Underwater

So what happens if you shoot a rifle underwater? You may have seen some of the videos generated by Dustin Sandlin, engineer type who has a U-tube channel "Smarter Everyday".
This is pretty awesome video and explains a lot of what is happening to the bullet when it leaves the muzzle of a rifle.
On another note, a story my Dad told me and my Brother about he and his running mates and BILs who would swim in a creek near out small town, this would be in the late '20s early 30s.
Someone got the bright idea to take a .22 cal rifle underwater, and since the creek was clear they could shoot a round and watch it travel through the water. The one of these guys
came up w/the idea for some the stand out front where the bullet was near its end of trajectory and catch the bullet. Luck for us by the time we heard the story the creek was so
muddy by then and we were to old the try it.

Can shoot fish that way. Use an old 22, open the breech and put it underwater. Wait till the barrel is completely full(very important!) Keep it underwater and load it, select your target and fire. Needs tone underwater all the time. If you don't let the barrel fill completely you maybe minus a face. If it is completely full then the pressure is equalised and its safe. If you leave some air in it and the barrel will likely explode. Not good at all.
People here used to get eels by doing this. Highly frowned upon by the authorities!

A 22 may be OK but wouldn't fancy using something larger like an AK
