Finally caught my pet food thief in our live trap - cute little guy -
This picture is just before I offloaded the trap at a wild life conservation area with lots of cover and plenty of water.
Turned him loose and he wouldn't even stop and pose for me - in fact, he was gone so fast I couldn't get a decent picture of him running into the bush pile

Hopefully he won't travel the 8 miles back to our place...

If he liked what you had you might see him again. They have a good memory of where the good stuff is

I used a similar trap to relocate a number of squirrels. I marked their tails to see if they returned, but so far so good. I found an article that said a river or highway in between you and them is a good deterrent. I found a nice wild life area with a river, two highways and an Air Force base in between. I haven't see a squirrel since spring.

I never thought to photograph them in the cage. I like the shot.

I moved him across a highway and a set of RR tracks and a creek into an area surrounded by crop fields and excellent cover with no hunting allowed. He should be happy and safe...

Only 8 miles ??? He'll probably get back before you do.
