Anyone have any hands-on with this new camera? Debating buying one as I have slowed down and want something quick and light.

I have its predecessor the 500 and I love mine. The 510 only has a few more features than mine like the longer optical zoom. It really just depends on if you want you want to be able to do with a bridge camera. If you want to shoot raw then this is not the camera for you because it doesn't have that capability. But if that doesn't matter to you I would say go for it. I have been using mine to break myself into a DSLR style camera and being able to shoot manual modes and I think I am at the point I am about to outgrow my camera. But if I weren't reading so many amazing things here and seeing so many wonderful pictures I might not have been to that point yet. The 510 would give you a lot of versatility and the 500 has worked really great for me so far. I am very happy with the quality pictures I get with it.

Santa brought a L120 to my girlfriend last year for Christmas. Don't know anything about the P510 but it sounds like a winner also. 8-)

I sold all my large cameras,[ 6 ] on Craigs List and purchased a P 510 three months ago and have not been disappointed after having taken over 500 photos, Except, in the easy panoramic mode,[ a breeze to use ] you cannot start the process in a closer [ zoom ] view. It starts and stays in the largest lens opening, a nit to be sure but you can always use the regular stitch panorama mode which gives you that capability. A good buy at $429.00, now it's selling at $ 399.00
I bought mine at Ritz camera to support local business.
Sorry for the double click !

I bought the 510 for use when my Nikon DLSR and lens are just too obtrusive. The common Nikon interface is convienent and intuitive.
My only issue has been I'm not as stable as I used to be and no one can hand hold more than half of the zoom range so a monopod is mandatory a tripod preferred... I use a Cullman 2503 tripod because the 510 is so light.
The glass and VR is worthy of Nikons name.
Most marginal pictures I have taken with the 510 are "Chauffeur Problems" the limits of this camera are easy to find!

Thanks for the replies. They will make my choice easier. I normally carry a monopod and a small folding tripod for a tabletop. Looking forward to buying and using. Again Thanks
