Hello all and Happy Holiday's.

I'm new to the forum (kind of found it by accident really) and don't usually join or post on forums but this one really caught my attention. At 39 yrs old, I've been an avid photographer for my entire life. First photo was at 3yrs old on Polaroid Instant and not long after, I found my way using my fathers Pentax ME Super. His ME (we shared it...by that I mean, he used it when I didn't have it) would take me into my teenage years until I turned 20, then, when my uncle passed, I inherited his equipment...which was also an ME Super.

My father upgraded his equipment, went digital, and I then possessed two complete ME's. Winders, speedlights, lenses, filters, everything. I shot all the time with those cameras and refused to go digital. I always knew what to expect and always had the results I wanted. Then, my loving wife presented me with a D5100 kit in December of 2011.

Long story short, I waited MONTHS to even pick up the 5100 (sorry dear!). Scared, nervous, set in my ways, etc, etc...full of excuses. I finally did start shooting with that Nikon and now, only look back fondly on a time when I had to wind film. The 5100 came with the 18-55 and the 55-200. To that I added the NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8, Nikon Speedlight, and a Meike grip. That darling set-up has been dream to shoot with and have had zero issues. Current shutter count is 26,xxx.

The 5100 served me well and after some time I realized with five kids that I need a bit more flexibility (indoor sports and whatnot) and this was my year for it. I went all in on the D750. In one very focused weekend I picked up the camera, grip and NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4, 16-35 f/4, and 70-200 f/2.8 lenses. To that I added the Lowepro Flipside 400AW, sling, new filter kits, and I've never been happier with my current gear status.

(Side note on the Lowepro...perfect bag! Holds everything I need including both bodies, speedlight, all 3 FX lenses and the 35mm f/1.4 for the D5100. Chargers, cables, extra batteries, extra SD cards, and other misc. I originally ordered an Ape Case Pro on Amazon. Returned it. Bought the Lowepro and reviewed both.)

That is the photography gear. I'm also an avid gun shooter. I love my Glock's and I love 10mm. I have a fondness for a good Benchmade, think Olight makes some of the best torches around, and enjoy watching my wife walk through a room...after all these years, she quite literally is a physical version of poetry.

I've been a welder for many years but focus on robotic welding applications. I love my job in robotic application engineering and work for the largest welding company in the world.

Father of five wonderful children. Four girls and one boy ranging in age from 16-7 (we didn't "keep going for the son"...he is #2).

Well...that's all of it and its more than I started out deciding I would post. I'm glad I found this forum and after reading and poking around here for a bit, I felt comfortable posting. Happy Holiday's to all!

Here is one I took back in November 2012 (IIRC). It's at a pond in Oglebay park in WV. We love taking the kids to the Featival of Lights.

It's not perfect (had only been using the D5100 a very short time) but I like it. I need to go back and play with the NEF in Lightroom...
