Starting a photo club. Need advice for a site or means for members to upload their monthly images so they can be collected and downloaded

Need some advice. I belong to another club that has members post their images to a private or closed facebook page. Not my preference because you have to reduce images for facebook and also it is not easy for the meeting leader, me in this case to grab all the images to load on a flash drive to take to the meeting and display them on screen via HDMI. Any of you in clubs that have this function dialed in? I can deal with an online storage place that can be accessed when we meet at the library with WiFi but they have a projector system and as many of you know that system does a poor job on showing a decent image a person spent time on getting just right. I welcome all suggestions. Thank you all in advance. JB

Try Meet-up.com, it inexpensive and works very well for club galleries, individual galleries, organization and everything else. Try a local library for a meeting room, most have projectors.

When I was in a club we had an email account that was monitored by whoever was in charge of the monthly contests. They would load them on a laptop with a backup on a thumb drive. When the club got large enough we had our own website. The pictures would be posted anonymously a week or so ahead of time and votes would be tallied to see which ones would compete at the meeting. The club had gotten too big to show all the entries in one night.

Thank you, but if we meet at the library they will not be responsible for it. My question is about managing the images that needs to be done no matter the output.

Look at Slickpic.com.

Meetup.com is great if you want to inform a group of members of events, meetings, photo walks, etc

It sounds like you need cloud storage that doesn't have a file size limit. It might be an idea to have two separate cloud-based storage locations (one for back-up) and if possible have them on a USB memory stick as well (for more back-up).

R.G. there is no need for storage as each photographers work is theirs to preserve. Rather, I want a collection point for a single slide show each month. The clubs I know have what I feel is a labor intensive manual system of building the slide show of members work

I use Dropbox, but I don't know how close it comes to meeting your requirements. It can be made to present a collection of images that can be run through in sequence.

I would suggest you join Exposure Roanoke. https://www.meetup.com/ExposureRoanoke/ it is a group that meets for field shoots. Nothing formal. you go if you want and you can pass if the event is not of interest. After a meetup you can post your images and all who attended and did not attend can see what you put up.

I have attended quite a few of these meetups and met interesting photographers and had interesting experiences.

There is a specific group that meets as a club. It was started as a club for advance photographers who were looking to further improve. They meet at the flight school at the airport.

Meetup groups are great. I belong to several in Austin. I also enjoy local PPA meetings where we have print contests monthly.
