What lens, what lighting conditions and subject. How long have you been using the camera?
Have you tried putting it on one shot or AIfocus? Have you changed the settings and sensitivity settings?
If you are moving the camera to follow a subject or it is a moving subject than it is doing what it is supposed to do. Trying to keep focus on the subject.
You can go into the menus and reset to defaults and see how it behaves then. Look here for a guide to settings. http://photographylife.com/recommended-canon-7d-mark-ii-settings

A lot more than it won't focus is needed to help you.

See my post to your other posting.

Then use it set on one shot. That is the one for everything but moving subjects. It is the setting I use my 7DII on most of the time. The main exception is BIF.

Ronz, you might try doing a complete reset in case you have inadvertently set something you don't want.
BUT, AI-servo is for the focus system to follow action. What are you shooting on Xmas that is fast action? Maybe servo is the wrong mode?
Are you using BB or 1/2 press?

If you want it working by Christmas, you're going to have to give a lot more details. Starting with: what lens?

dont have much detail , but just in case , i have had this problem on the 7d2 with sigma 150-600 sport lens only ever happens when battery in camera is getting low and not all the time , always set in Al servo as always chasing wildlife , my copy of the 7d2 likes a full battery and does not happen
i now just have a charged spare battery if it happens i swap them all fixed , will also add changing modes does not help on mine , only thing to do is feed her a fresh battery then they are both happy again
i love my 7d2

I did try a reset that didn't help. I'm shooting moving objects to still objects. I took the battery out for minutes. I have had the 7d for a year and use one focus point, I tried changing to more focus points and that didn't work. Of course Canon is closed today. Thanks for all the tips, I have gone thru and made sure the settings were as they should be but something is causing the problem, just don't know where to look. I have tried lenses and it is the same

This might sound stupid but have you tried adjusting that little wheel on your view finder? Are you out of focus when looking through the finder or just when you retrieve the picture? I had that problem on my old 70D...

Taking the battery out does not do a reset. You have to go into your menu for that. Try a different battery, if you haven't already. The lens focus motor is powered by the camera battery. If it is weak or defective it can cause auto focus problems. A defective battery can still read good with no load on it.

Is it just AI Servo? Barring a solution to your issue, can't you try shooting in One Shot or AI Focus to get you through the holidays?

What lens are you using? Might sound dumb but do you have the AF function turned on the lens?

My friend had the same problem and what he found was that his camera needed a good cleaning...

On the 7D Mk1 when in AI servo the focus point does not turn red or beep, are you sure that is not your problem.

I have had my 7d ii for while now. Early on while trying to learn the camera I had to reset to factory settings a couple times. Don't know it will help your situation but, for me it straightened out whatever I had buggered up...
