Nice shot. Would have been better if you didn't chop off her ear and hairdoo.
I wish I could get a picture of my wife without a telephone. Her nickname is Telly

Agreed, the eye dead center is not conducive to a pleasing effect. While I like the earring I think it might be better cropped to put the eye at the top left third. Eye, nose, mouth and phone are all that is needed.
Much better. Either show her whole head as I previously suggested, or crop off more as you did in this example
Really like the tight crop ...

Much better. Eliminates the veins in her temple which was the first thing I noticed on the OP.
PS - Your wife IS lovely.
Lovely image. IMO, the tighter crop is effective because you have a better look at her eyes which always are the windows of the portrait.
Cropped photo is best. Nice job!
I didn't see anything wrong with the first one, that is why i am not great at picture taking.
I like both for different reasons. I tend to crop in the viewfinder (bad habit) I know. Us old school guys tend to do that... I liked both the eye and the earring as focal points. My eye is still drawn to her eye, and the veins in her head are part of her so I dont mind them. I see what everyone is talking about in the cropped version and I like it as well, but I still like the original better.. By the way I had to work a little just to get a piece of her left eye!!! Thou shalt not take a one eyed portrait!!! My rule... Thanks to all for your comments..
