Brown lacewing larvae are excellent predators, but it's often difficult to know their true appearance because of the detritus they carry on their backs for camouflage.
Here are a few pics that reveal (after enlargement) more of what this tiny critter really looks like.
I would really like to see a macro of larvae without camouflage.

I don't have a true macro photograph, but I do have an old enlargement from a few years ago of a larva exposed from the bottom. The 'goop' on the outside is very flocculent and is hard to remove without causing physical damage to the insect.
Not all brown lacewing larvae have the covering. You can google them under images and see what the other species look like.
