This shot is one of my experiments with bracketing, so the file should be nice and data-rich. And I've seen a bright version and a dark version so I can tell you it could be taken either way. Edit it in whatever way you think suitable (link to DNG version below the jpg).

Are you going to try your hand at an edit, Karin?

Thanks for contributing, Karin. You've gone for an enhanced colourful sunrise/sunset look. This is the east coast so it's a sunrise.

Thanks for letting us play, R.G. Heavy cropping (obviously); cleaned up a few spots on the clouds; removed the dead plant, and generally had fun.

Glad you had fun, Shakey. Looking at the download I'm left wondering if that's movement in the grass on the left or just multiple blades of grass. Darker and more colourful seems to be the preferred choice for this one.

Thank you LLoyd. Vivid skies seem to be the preferred treatment. Perhaps the dead vegetation wasn't the artistic addition that I thought it was .

I felt the long branches on the right in particular took your eye away from the lighthouse!

I think you might be right. The right hand side is generally a bit on the messy side.

LOL! R.G. I cropped to the grass on the left (center on the original) because IMO that looked more artistic. After cropping I had to enlarge the cropped image, which made the grass more prominent. The image looks like the old saying "Red sky in the morning sailors warning." I guess the day following your shoot was pretty miserable.

Played with color tones, and did a little bit of touch up to the sides of the lighthouse. Added contrast and a Nik structure to the scene.

The foreground had a sharp focus and the DOF didn't carry well into the background so I Added a Gaussian Blur to the foreground weeds and grass and attempted to sharpen the background.
