I continue to learn and experiment with photography. I had a few minutes between jobs to shoot this tree inside our gated community. I am undecided as to which I prefer and can use some expert advice as to what could make either one of them better. Best seen in download. This forum has definitely helped me over the last few years. Thanks for looking!!

I like the first one best but I would like it better if it had the fountain as the second one does.

Does the shots being inside your gated community constitute important information for those assessing the preferred image?

Rob, definitely the first. The rays of light in the sky, the overall tonality, and the composition really make the scene. The second one is a bit "fakey" with the lights on the tree. Additionally, the sky is rather dull in that one, as well.

First one Rob, as rplain1 said, wish that fountain was in the picture as well.

No it doesn't and wasn't meant to mean anything other than where I was standing. Thanks for checking it out and have a great Christmas!

Thanks Bob. I too love the rays of sun. Because I was standing in the street there were cars going by and had to wait for headlights to disappear. I should have noticed the missing fountain. It's within walking distance so maybe I'll get a chance to "practice" again.

I like the first one the best.
The sun's rays and all else basically silhouetted.

For me, it's no contest: the first one. In #1 I like the beautiful color of the sky and clouds, as well as the rays of sunlight. Just an overall very pleasing image.
