Do you see the image as a powerful resource

I am still doing some marketing. And creating a lot of videos. And using single images that I think have power.
Someone asked me about communications today compared to years past. I told them it is simple whether for
art for marketing or for personal concepts of life and image that tells a story and maybe a great headline is
what motivates the world. When people ask about selling or teaching or story telling for commerce I say
as that point I usually see an image of some kind. And maybe a headline.

Interesting that I have been supplying images for charity and my video shoots as stills.
Somewhere in the 4k or Hybrid HD their is and image that is worth keeping. I realized the many
great photographers on this site might find this a sellout.

Tom, You are in control of what you think is good. Do what you want to satisfy yourself. If the images you create are what you believe in then stay with it. There are images we create for our selves and then there are images we create because we are commissioned to do so ( Work & Pay).

Absolutely correct. I do a lot of commission work and I occasionally make images I really like. When I shoot for myself I tend to get more satisfaction.Regarding commission work, I try to keep in mind that I have 15-20 seconds to capture someone's attention for my client.

As far as marketing is concerned there is only 1 criterion--Does It Work. IF it gets the desired result, that's all that is necessary.

Regarding your question or comment, I like your "Strong Image plus Headline" concept but I think your body copy needs a lot of work.

If you are talking about commercial jobs, many fine art photographers do them (even Ansel Adams). That's not selling out, that's earning a living. And if you are talking about work for a charity, I don't see how anyone could consider that selling out.

I've done fine art and commercial work all my life. I do everything the best way I can. When I do, I like everything I've done. The only time I have ever felt conflicted about this was when I was fresh out of college and veiled with liberal idealism or should I say, unrealism. Money = Bad. As soon as I rid myself of toxic liberalism I freed my inner self to be all I could be.
