I personally like something in the frame to be in focus...

I agree with the others, I like a focal point. But I bet it smelled good! Just keep trying.

Is this one of your sociology / psychology experiments??

I might have some interest in an in-focus version if you'd walk much farther into the field, so the area beyond the field was at least as much of the image as the lilac in a picture taken with a normal {"50mm equivalent"} lens.

When I see frames like this while reviewing a days shots in LR I hit the X key so fast it doesn't realize it moved.
Your camera needs glasses or contact lenses badly, or someone different behind it.

Why? In the gallery most things usually aren't, so it belongs, right in style.

That is my opinion. I like my photos to be in focus. And I do show in a gallery sometimes. But you are also entitled to your own vision.

Thank you Roxie! Really appreciate yor reply! I haven't always been granted the right to my own opinion so it's a real treat. But can you tell me,
WHY anything needs to be in focus? We have beautiful color here, can't you just smell the lavender? And look at all the little leading lines
pointing up to the hills in the sunset, or maybe that's sunrise, perfect complement to the color of the flowers. Focus is sort of old hat these days,
don't you think?

No I cannot smell the lavender.
I can barely see it - my eyes rebel when I try to look at this out-of-focus mess.

WR has lamented the lack of proper critique here at UHH.
Saying that things should be in focus, and this isn't, is performing proper critique.

BTW - please give a link to something posted today in the Gallery that you believe is this terribly focused.

rehess, I think the area beyond the field is a big drop-off. And why are you being so negatiff anyway.
Most people here are really nice. If you don't like the pic. why did you comment?

W/R and Billy have both said multiple times that we are too nice, that people comment only if they do like an image.

added: and I'm being "negative". Please define "negatiff" so I can at least learn something from this.
