Has anybody on here ever heard of or been to LEH LADAKH WHICH IS PART OF NW INDIA?? I inadvertently stumbled upon a story about this area since it was once very remote but is now adjusting to an influx of tourism and "new money" flowing in...

I DID NOT KNOW INDIA HAD ACTUAL HIMALAYAN MTN TERRAIN like this thinking you had to to through Tibet and Nepal first....

....SEEMs TO BE WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY OUT THERE BUT THEY HAVE A jet airliner AIRPORT.....THE TRAIN GOES ONLY TO A POINT 434 MILES TO THE SE..... CHECK THIS OUT.........I read THAT BETTER OFF INDIANS NOW VACATION THERE SO IT IS AN UP AND COMING TOURIST DESTINATION I GUESS....

SEEMS LIKE THIS IS NEAR OR IN A VERY DANGEROUS PART OF THE GLOBE HOWEVER......BUT HEY...WHO KNEW?
HERE'S A "HOW TO GET THERE" LINK
http://www.india.com/travel/ladakh/how-to-reach/

Next time I speak to someone on a Help line, I'll ask if he lives near this area.

Cool it with the capital letters.

Hello; I was there this past September on a tour to this region ... here are the links to my albums in case you are interested in seeing them. A spectacularly scenic area of India fairly close to the Pakistani and Chinese border. The road signs are very catchy in this area.

Signs, signs and more signs:
Sorry for the crappy quality of the pictures shot from a moving vehicle and through dirty window glass, nonetheless the area had abundant number of cute road signs that made the drive interesting just looking out for them in addition to the scenery.

THANKS SO MUCH....What wonderful photos!!!! I loved the signs.....I am speechless!!! ...a motorable road at over 18,000 feet....Excuse me??!!!!...WOW!!!! Again thanks so much for publishing all of this...Very considerate of you to share this adventure of a lifetime for you and your family....."The far side of the world!!".....

re your comment about the signs...sometimes images we have taken at first glance that are not personally pleasing to yourself, try converting them to black and white or trying some effects that are really inventive in Alien Skin Exposure 7 for example... You can create a whole new way of looking at things. that you may have overlooked when you were actually there.....

Alien Skin Exposure 7 both in their color and B/W work areas might be of some help to express yourself more (if you feel you need to) since obviously those signs got your attention in a big way......What you have there would make a fantastic mural re the signs alone but my God ....look at what you did..where you were!!! Doing B/W conversions is just plain fun to do..as if you made the trip for second time!!

Thanks for taking the time to beautiful pictures. Did you go with a group or just family? I'm going to put that on my bucket list.

I breed Tibetan dogs, Lhasa Apsos, so I have studied that part of the world. The elevation is very high, so if you are over 50 or have any lung disease, you are not a good candidate for traveling there. Most of the area is over 10,000 feet. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/altitude-sickness-peaks-in-ladakh-6255045.html

Before going there I would plan to spend a week or two in the highest part of Colorado I could find, and be sure I were fully acclimatized. I have had altitude sickness, and it is not fun!
