While leaving a sporting event I looked up and saw this shot just waiting to be taken. For a lot of people the shot might stir numerous emotions, perhaps even disagreements. Some tend to combine God and Country. Others separate God and Country. Some see a hostility or competition between God and Country. Whatever our take, this simple shot wasn't created to stir discussion, everywhere we look there is plenty of that, but it does remind me that I am to live such a life within my country that I live as an ambassador for another, eternal kingdom.
Equipment: Canon T4i, Canon 400 L f/5.6

Made me think John Glenn.
That makes sense. It's a timely shot to remember him by.
You were beginning to sound like Obummer there for a bit; I'm glad you pulled it out and got what you are thinking about it out in the open. I agree this has John Glenn all over it and what he thought of America.
Great shot and you did well to notice it! Thanks for your thoughts on God and country!
Kewl observation and framing.
It would be nice if the flagpole was vertical though.
Is one of your legs longer than the other?

Hi,
I downloaded it and rotated it to make the flagpole vertical. To me, it did not 'feel right'. Try it yourself!!
Perhaps it is the ~45deg angle of the top edge of the flag? - and the pole leaning into the wind?
Regardless It is a nice photo.

LOL, I see what you mean... better the flag horizontal than the flagpole vertical...
Just as well there was some wind otherwise we'd be looking at the flag pole horizontal as well
as the flag.
I agree, it is a cool image.

Fine image and conclusion to your commentary.
I see nothing controversial in that shot.
