Hi, I have been using LR( subscription) for 2 years now, and cannot print my pics! I just updated it and it seems they have changed something! HELP!!
I get a pop up that says "the destination folder for this is missing on all my pictures" also I went to back up and it says"catalogue size is more than 4 GB.Please use a third part such as 7zip or stuffit expander to extract your catalogue back up" I don't know what any of this means. Can someone tell me what to do?! Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I found the somewhat unhelpful help article by googling for the error message in the quotes. It involves downloading a file from Adobe (make sure you click on the download link in the help article), and copying it to a folder under Lightroom Preferences, then restarting. If this doesn't work, you at least can remove the downloaded file without harming anything else.

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/unable-to-back-up-catalog.html

Good luck.

Wes

Hi Wes, I went to Adobe Creative Cloud, but could not find the config.lua file. Where is it?

how much free disk space do you have? I've seen print errors crop up when there isn't enough space for temporary print files.

Also, after making a new backup of your LR Catalog to an external flash drive, have you recently run the Optimize Catalog option from the LR File Menu?

There's a link in the help page to get it. Unfortunately, it looks like they took those help pages offline. However, here are the contents of the file. Just save this as a separate text file

-------------------------------------- use the text between the dashed lines -------------------------------------
Tools = {
OldBackupImplementation = true,
}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have an issue with Photoshop too, photoshop shuts down occasionally when I hit the print button. Started after I upgraded to Sierra. Also happens occasionally with On1 software. I have a need to call Adobe anyway, so I will ask. I read somewhere where there is a fix, but I haven't pursued too much. I simply take the photo, and print from Lightroom if need be.

It probably came packed in the file that you downloaded - but perhaps, as others have suggested, you are running out of drive space and the file could not be unpacked properly.

A quick way to free up some space is to right-click on the Recycle Bin icon that probably is low in the right corner of your monitor and select "Empty the recycle bin". But you probably need to also do some maintenance - removing files in the TEMP and downloads directory. You may be able to find a "cleanup" application on your PC to help with finding and removing such files.

And you may want to think about buying another drive for your PC - maybe a big external one to back up some old images and let you remove them from your computer's hard drive.

How do I find "the destination folder" for all my pictures. It was fine before the download. Thanks.

Who are you asking? Are you out of disk space? Have you run the database cleanup? You've posed questions but not given much for answers to help with troubleshooting.

I also experienced this message and after some research from myself and a friend, we found that it is a bug in the latest update. The next time you get that message just check the box that states you want to prevent the pop-up. You won't be bothered by it again. According to Adobe the bug will be corrected in the next update.

Per chance are you trying to print to a JPG instead of the printer? If you are indeed printing to a printer and doing this from Lightroom then there is no destination folder, only a destination printer. There is your import folder where the original is, either an XMP side car file that holds what processing changes have been made to the image or this info may be held in the catalog itself and that's all she wrote. If printing to a JPG then the print process will ask you where you want to store this newly created JPG. Can you describe fully "your" process for printing?

I don't know about the destination folder problem, but Tim Grey addressed your 4GB issue just today in his "Ask Tim Grey" email:

Tim's Quick Answer: The error you're seeing relates to an issue with ZIP files over 4GB in size on the Macintosh operating system. The error is not a major issue, as there are a variety of tools that enable you to extract files from a ZIP file that is over 4GB in size. More Detail: The basic issue here relates to some limitations with certain operating systems related to ZIP files (or files in general) over 4GB in size. The built-in support for ZIP files on the Macintosh platform does not extend to ZIP files over 4GB in size, in some cases reporting such ZIP files as being corrupted. As a workaround, you can use a third-party tool (rather than the operating system itself) to extract a backup of a catalog that exceeds 4GB. For example, StuffIt Expander (http://my.smithmicro.com/stuffit-file-compression-software.html) provides broader compatibility for extracting compressed files. Of course, this is only an issue when you need to actually restore your catalog from a backup. Hopefully that will never be an issue for any photographer. But when it does become necessary to restore from a backup, if your catalog backup is over 4GB in size you may need to use a third-party utility to extract the backup. This file size issue is not a concern for most Windows users, and frankly it isn't a major concern for Macintosh users. In this case it would be perfectly reasonable to turn on the "Don't show again" checkbox in the alert dialog regarding the large catalog size, so that you won't see this message in the future.

Hi, Thank you all for helping me. This is what I learnt from Canon regarding the printing issue. They told me that I got the pop message because I upgraded to Sierra (iMac ) and that it is a common problem. I also got a new router and new password, and that was the issue with the message popping up. I had to change settings and re-install and everything is working well now.
