Tamron 16-300 vs Sigma 18-300

I am looking to buy either of the above lenses and I would like your feelings as to which is the better of the two. I looked for reviews and they are hard to find. It seems in my finding that the Sigma maybe a little sharper of a lens but slower in auto focusing and sometimes locks in auto focusing. Also with the Sigma I guess if you are in AF you can't fine tune it manually without switching into manual focus mode. The Sigma buttons or switches are nicer or more easier to use. This is basically what I have uncovered and from these facts I am leaning towards the Tamron. What do you think and what is your finds? Thanks.

This is the only real review I found. He favors the Tamron. If you go to Adorama and you look at all of their reviews they favor the Sigma. This is why I posted my question here because I don't know which one to get since the reviews go both ways. The Sigma wins in Sharpness but the Tamron seems to win in convenience, handling and features. Durability is another factor which Tamron seemed to be low on. DXO Mark showed both of them about equal on sharpness so this even makes it more confusing. So if anyone had any personal experience with either of these lenses that would be a big help or another review if anyone can find one.

The best one is the Nikon 18-300, if you own a Nikon that is. If you own a Canon, go with a Canon lens, and that one will be the best. If you own a Sony, get the Sony lens. I think by now you get the idea.

You could also throw this in your choice. Tamron gives a 6 year warranty and Sigma gives a 3 year warranty. Just something more to make your head spin....Rich

I use the Sigma 18-300. I've used it in a number of different photo situations; landscape, sundown cruise, local candids, indoor low lighting, walk around, hand held, tripod mount, etc. I use it on Pentax K3 and K5 bodies with excellent results, shot after shot. I find handling and convenience of use no problem at all. The review that says this borders on nonsense. The Tamron is also an excellent choice: both are so close that differences become meaningless. For sharpness, we don't know if the test shots were taken in the same manner (tripod v handheld, aperture setting, WB, ISO, shutter, comp., etc.). I'll bet even the prices are similar.

Love my tamron on my nikon 7200 - great walking around camera and have used it inside for capturing the grandkids. Have had to use a flash sometimes since they don't tend to stop moving let alone stay still.

One of the major magazines did a test of the high ratio zooms awhile back ( forget exactly which one and when) - but the best on test was the Tamron.

One of my Canons is an SL1. I have the standard 18-55, and later bought the Tamron 16-300. This is sorta my GP setup, and have not had any issues with the Tammy.

I purchased the Tamron 16-300 for my Canon 7D II. I have not seen the Sigma.

This lens is well made, and works well with no problems. It's a solid made lens.

Go and look at both lenses. Then pick the one you like. Money may also be a factor, depending.

I do like my Tamron.
