Good, yes , but for Wow, I would suggest darken your shadows and boost contrast a little - your snow is very good - no blue cast !

what you might want to try. Take the image through nik silver effects pro to create a b&w, then layer mask that and bring back the color of the water and boats. the foreground snow and trees and background mountain has a black & white look in the original.

Can you post a full size shot by checking "store original"?

i think to obtain a WOW factor one must start with an image that says: WOW.

sorry but this one does not - for me - do that - so the question becomes how do I manipulate an ordinary image so that it becomes extraordinary?

and the answer is the same: you cannot.

BUT you can continue to go looking for that WOW factor every time you shoot.

I would agree with docrob. It appears to me that you don't have a central subject. You framed the scene well by the trees on either side, but there is no central point of focus. Keep shooting and don't become discouraged. Not every image you shoot will be a good one. It takes a lot of shots to come up with that special one. As a rough guideline consider a ratio of 100 clicks to one really good image. Look at the other images on the site and see how they did it as well as the comments. Then pick your own style and what is important to you..

I'm sorry I disagree with most of the posts. In most cases a WOW factor is hard to achieve even when the photograph is good, however most photographs can be enhance to achieve their maximum potential as illustrated in the attached images. Ruth I hope you don't mind I copied your image to help illustrate this. It took 10 minutes in Lightroom to enhance your image. I am sure that with more time even more enhancements could be made. I just wanted to show you things can be done.

Really?

So your saying it's difficult to find/stumble upon, or set up and create an image that goes "WOW? But its really easy to take ordinary scenes / images and enhance them after the fact and somehow magically create that sense of WOW?

Sorry but to my mind/heart if images I create in the camera in the field don't surprise, delight, intrigue, excite, or WOW me - why take them???

WOW images are in the eyes of those who are viewing them. What WOWs you may not WOW me. What I am trying to point out to a new person is that an image may not be of the WOW quality however they can be enhance so that it is better than what the camera has taken. If every thing that Ansel Adams took out of his camera was printed as it was taken he would not have developed the zone system and there would be no use for burning and dodging. Every great photograph has been enhance whether in the camera, development, or printing. Paraphrasing A. Adams, one has see the image in his mind and then create what he sees. Also it is not for me to discourage new people, however show them how to obtain a better image and encourage them to learn more so they can do better in the future.

I didn't say I was a purist and that only images taken and reproduced as taken were acceptable - that would be silly and arcane - not to mention deeply hypocritical on my part.

That aside are you saying that when Adams stumbled upon the Village of Hernandez and saw that moon he did not instantly hit the brakes and scream WOW!!!!!!! - Lord knows I would - bet you would too!!! So I guess I am saying I disagree - I think there are universally recognized WOW images/themes/creations.....

As for the instructions and your intent - OK yeah, I see and hear that those are good - so are mine - which are learn to see (photograph) what the camera can reveal to you first - then master the craftsmanship of processing and presenting.

peace brother :-) both our hearts are in the right places
