Waiting for the Parade

The Dickens on the Strand holiday (Galveston, Texas) was "weathered out" this year (cold & wet). A make-up was done the following Saturday. Still cold, but dry, and the people turned out.

Nice, sharp photo, tells its story, just about everyone looks happy. I like the detail in the bricks and the toning, too.

Goodness, was it that cold or is this an acclimation situation? I remember being in Thailand a few years ago in the winter. Myself and a co-worker from Alaska could finally breath when the overnight weather cooled to about 65 Fahrenheit, the Thai folks were bundled in ski jackets on their way to work in the morning. Good shot! Thanks

One does adapt to one's climate. In this case, it was an aberration (I hope). Last December, it was held on sunny days with the temperature in the low 70s. This year, on Dec. 3rd and 4th (the originally scheduled days), temp was in the 50s and it rained all weekend. Totally miserable. On the 10th, the makeup day, temp was still in the high 50s, but at least there was no rain, just an overcast day. The next time I see Al Gore, I WILL remind him of this. I guess it was similar to your Thai situation.

I especially like the person with the hoodie covering his entire head, appears to have a camera on the table as well, new way to take photos, from the dark room hoodie.

He's different, but he probably got a good view of the parade and some nice shots of it. Galveston has some quite-high curbs, which makes for better street-shooting.
