Thinking about upgrading, but seem to remember some issues discussed on this forum about doing so regarding LR and/or PS performance.

For those that have upgraded, have the bugs been fixed?

Thanks in advance!

I upgraded to Sierra recently and have used Lightroom and some add-ins since with no problems. Are all issues "fixed" - I have no idea. Does it seem to work for me - yes!

I use a MacBook Pro, mid 2013 version (or perhaps 2012 version). I recently upgraded to Sierra with absolutely no problems. I use both Lightroom and Photoshop Creative Cloud and they work perfectly.

There is nothing that needs sierra to run, some stuff that breaks or isn't available in sierra. Pretty much 10.9 up is currently supported.
Now there is an issue where Apple will not give you an upgrade to anything other than the latest release if you haven't had it before. So for example i can download yosemite on my account anytime i want but i can't download el kapitan because i never downloaded it before sierra was released. I can go to Sierra. Although I have no reason too other than to ensure its an option later on.

Apple can be quite painful at times, e.g they took ebooks and pdfs out of itunes to try and force you to use ibooks and more specifically to use icloud to sync and to stop you transferring ebooks and pdfs to "rival" platforms. Personally I keep ebooks and pdfs on a nas controlled by one machine and then i can check out anything i want on my other devices when i want too including my own personal content. So you can find by going with their latest release you can be following Apples interest and not your own.

Apple wants you to keep buying new which is why they are doing things like soldering in Batteries Ram and SSD's making them hard if not impossible to replace. They really can be such ... about things e.g upgrade the ram in a 27" imac you pop a cover and there are 4 slots (2 empty) so you can get up to 32gb of ram. 21.5" 2 ram slots allowing for 16 gb but first you must remove the screen and logic board to change those 2 Ram boards.

I like osx but i am starting to really dislike apple...

Bravo!

I've been an Apple person since 1979—the Apple II—but they've become greedy and insensitive to the needs of their long-time customers. Many of their operating system and hardware upgrades seem to be unneeded fluff to up-sell their user base.

For decades I was an Apple evangelist; probably converted at least a dozen people from Windows to Apple, but now I can't and won't do that.

Although I'm pretty fed up with Apple, I also dislike Windows so I've got nowhere to go.

LINUX? At one point, I thought that LINUX might be a viable alternative, but I don't hear much about it lately.

I've been nursing along a nine year-old iMac that's going to be made obsolete by those good folks from Cupertino.

I have and use Sierra on multiple MACs including LR & PS on all of them. No issues anywhere. I waited about a month after Sierra became available before downloading it. The oldest MAC is a 2012 MacBook.

Ignore the naysayers and go ahead and download it. I'm using it on 3 machines and never have had any problems from day 1

I am still running Mavericks on my MacBook Pro and iMAC. I wait a for a few releases, before upgrading to the newest version of macOS. There have have been many issues/problems/quirks with the latest upgrade of LR, but none that seem to be associated with macOS.

My philosophy is to upgrade only if you need to. I have 2012 iMac currently running Yosemite. When I upgraded to El Capitan, I started to get "beach ball" freezes....back to Yosemite. I then upgraded to OS Sierra and then my wifi started to drop ( still waiting for a fix for that). Meanwhile I went back to Yosemite which runs perfectly.

Don't use Lightroom, but Photoshop works well, at least initially. When for many days the computer has only gone to sleep, not been turned off, some Photoshop tools eventually stop working. When this happens, restarting the computer always restores order. The Chessing software, however, will not run on Sierra.

By now, it is pretty stable. Sierra breaks some older versions of software, so check with all your software vendors to see whether your software is supported, whether upgrades are available, and whether you need to switch to a different application.

Apple, Microsoft, and Adobe continually update and occasionally upgrade their applications. Other developers may be a little slower.

There is usually a small glitch or two right after a major MacOS or Windows release, but it doesn't take more than a calendar quarter for most of them to be fixed. I always wait a while before upgrading.

My late 2013 iMac runs Yosemite flawlessly. It also runs Sierra with no problems, except that Sierra "breaks" some of my older software that Apple won't update. So I have Sierra on an outboard drive, and Yosemite on my inboard drive. That's a strategy I've used since Mac OS X 10.4.11.

I have Sierra running on a 13" 2012 MacBook Air, a 2012 13" MacBook Pro Retina, and a 27" iMac Retina. No installation problems and no problems with Lightroom, Photoshop, DxO Optics Pro, Capture One or any other photo or non-photo applications.

It is much more important to install Mac software upgrades for their security upgrades than for any new features they may provide.
