A friend of mine gave me the thing, he had no idea what it is, his wife is a professional photographer and she left it when she moved out, and he gave it to me. I did some digging and found it is for monitor calibration, and I found on Amazon it sells for $470. I learned that it is no longer supported by Datacolor as there is an updated version. My question is would it be beneficial to install it. I have 2 laptops, 1 Windows 10, the other Vista.

All of the 'experts' say you need to calibrate your monitor, especially if you print your images.
Did the software come with it? It looks like you can still download the software from Datacolor.
I read where in may or may not run on Windows 10 depending on your configuration.

Everything is here, I don't print any pictures! What does this thing do? Should I just try it on the Vista machine.

On my monitors all colours look fine, as for Windows 10 I read the same thing.

Thank you Sir, much Appreciated

It looks like this site does a pretty good job of explaining monitor calibration.

Toss it. It is useless unless you are running Windows XP, 2000, or Vista. If you are running Mac, it will work on OSX Lion to Yosemite.

Mine quit working as soon as I upgraded to Win 10. They offer no way to update it as near as I can tell. Really angry.
