Taken at the International Sand Sculpting Competition at Fort Myers Beach in November.

I just about always post here in black and white, but I can't decide about this one--any thoughts?

John, like you I generally prefer to shoot b&w images, but the color version seems more pleasing in this case. The color version does include a bit more distraction due to various tools and other objects on the stand near the sculptor's arm and hand. A painstaking process for the sculptor and a nice capture for you.

Sometimes color is better at differentiating objects than is B&W. I think this is one of those times. To me, it's a little easier to see what's going on. I also find so much white in the B&W version to make the overall effect too "harsh." I find the light beige sand to be more pleasing to the eye. A nice shot!

I agree that the sand is pretty harsh. Thanks for the comment.

I can see both sides of this argument, but I'm still leaning to the B&W, not enough color in that pops in the color one!
