Hi there,
I am interested to hear any feedback on the above lens and also the 1.4 TC.
If anyone has any sample pictures they would also be appreciated.
Thank you

Over here, the perceived wisdom is that the 100-400 fuji lens works better on the X Pro 2 than it does on the XT-2 !

Just got this for my X-t2. Having used the Canon 100-400 on a 5DIII, I have a good basis for comparison. It seems to hunt focus at 400mm more than the Canon, but otherwise compares favorably. I wanted to put it through its paces, so I had my Australian shepherd running at full speed (which is pretty fast!) and followed her through the lens for Pic 1.
Not sure if all the exif data will be there when you download, so here goes:
Picture #1 = 1/640 sec., f4.8, ISO 800, 153.3mm
Picture #2 = 1/320 sec., f5.0, ISO 800, 234.8mm
Pic 1 suggests pretty good tracking. Pic 2 seems pretty good focus edge to edge. My daughter's hair seems to be in focus on the edge.
I wish I had something with a little more dynamic range, but this is what we have in New England in early December.
If you'd like, I have a still of my dog at 400mm, but let's see how these files download here.
Here's one at 400mm. 1/200 sec. ISO 1000, f5.6 (largest aperture at that focal length)
Note the this stick on left side is sharper than the dog, but at 1/200sec, that's motion blur, and not (just) my unsteady hand ;)
Thank you for taking the time to send me these images and your feedback, They are all sharp especially because of the motion. I think I might rent one and give it a shot before I purchase.
You're welcome! This thing weighs about half of the Canon 100-400 as well. Even then, it seems a little unbalanced on the camera unless you have a battery grip.
I have the 100-400 and the 1.4 TC and use them with both a X-Pro2 and X-T2. I use them mostly for shooting birds. I am not the steadiest person in the world and my skill at shooting birds in flight leaves something to be desired. But, I had a Nikon D800 and 80-400 lens before I went to Fuji and had the same problem so it is not a lens issue. When I am shooting birds which are mostly stationary, I use the 100-400 plus the TC on a tripod and the photos are excellent. Of course, you lose a stop of light on the big lens when using a TC. When I am ready for birds in flight and use the fast shooting modes of these cameras, I normally will get some decent shots then also. The size of this lens and TC compared to my old Nikon is a great relief to my back. Overall, I rate the lens/TC as excellent.
Not to mention the additional reach achieved with the 1.5 crop sensor over both the Nikon D800 and the Canon 5DIII. Put a 1.4 TC on this puppy and you get a 35mm equivalent 840mm reach! That'll get you pretty close to anything you'll want to shoot.
