Hello everyone! I am not even sure how I came across this site, but it seems like a great resource for getting back into photography. A few years back I was very much into photography both from the creative and technical sides. I used to research a lot about how to get better with ISO settings, Aperture, and Shutter Speed as well as getting into different types of lenses between primes, short range zooms, and "walk around" lenses. Then I got divorced and that put my little hobby on hold for a bit. But like all people, I moved on and have started back into the excitement again! I have been a "Nikon guy" for as long as I can remember and my first DSLR was a Nikon D50. I made the normal progression up to D70, D90, and then the D7000. After getting more into it through the years I actually found a D300 with a very low actuation count about 3 years ago and that has made all the difference for me. I got some criticisms from people telling me that I "took a step backwards in technology," which is perhaps true to a certain level, but the D300 is a far superior camera body in my humble opinion. At least it is for me, and that is what I focus on (pun intended). I don't criticize people for what their preference of body/lens choices are because photography is a journey in which you must decide the best set up for yourself. My brother is a "Cannon guy" and has been for as long as I have been in love with Nikon. I don't judge him, but his choice of camera company is totally wrong! Just kidding! We all love what we have and it works for all of us, right?
Currently I am using a Sigma 17-70mm as my primary lens, but recently purchased a Sigma 18-250 for more of that "walk around" all in one to have for when I travel. I also just purchased a Nikon Nikkor 300mm AF D lens because the price was just too attractive to pass up. Yes, it is older and yes, it is a tank of a lens, but so far I have been pleased. I literally just got it yesterday so I need to spend some more time with it before I start posting some example shots. Anyway, I hope to be as active as I can on this site and look forward to learning from the rest of this community. Anyone watch the Adorama show, "Top Photgrapher" recently online? I am hoping they have a season 2 and invite more photographers to be a part of it. I'm very excited to be back into the world of photography and hope that I can start putting out some decent photos again soon.

Welcome to UHH Tim, glad you joined us. I am also a life time Nikon guy. Still have my 35mm Nikon F and Nikkormat. Not worth much but just want to hang on to them. Presently shooting with a D7100.
Have fun, learn and enjoy the forum.
