When I get home I'll write some of the steps I take. It's a technique I read about that really breathes life back into HDR images.

I'll look forward to that too!

I think that you are being TOO critical. I find no objection to your color image. Well done!

G'day mates, I think the colour is great. Oh and the steering wheel is on the right side (correct side!!!!) Been thinking of trying HDR. Have to look into it.

Why did you put the steering wheel on the wrong side?

There was a cut-off point, maybe 1969, for importing English cars (any foreign cars) because of our safety and emission standards. Can you tell us what year that car was made and how it happened to get into the country?

Well, it looks like I did it again. Open mouth, insert foot. I see that the car is in New Zealand. That accounts for the steering wheel.

I'm guessing you think the HDR looks weird because the exposure is manipulated. The light and dark areas look well-lit, whereas in real life, the rear of the garage would be in darkness.

Prefer the color version. It looks pretty good to me. I am just now experimenting with HDR and know the different look HDR gives. Playing with an image in PSE 10 helped a bit.

In my younger days, I had an MG TD which I restored and a TC, which I sold without restoring. Unfortunately, the prices for parts (and cars) has gotten ridiculous. I'm glad I did it when I did. I always want an MGA - early 60's and an Austin Healey 3000. Now I'm into basic, good mileage transportation.

Nice car, nice photographs! Good thing he's not restoring a Bentley! He'd need a larger garage!

We had a local "junk yard" that specialized in Rolls and Bentley parts. This guy did business all over the world. When he died, the business died with him.

A friend is nearing completion of a renovation of an MGA. I wanted to take a shot of the car in the garage, but couldn't find an exposure that would show detail in the highlights and shadows, so I tried HDR using Photomatix. Here is one result, which is over-sharpened, I know, but that was deliberate, and I enhanced the colour of the car. It looks good in B&W, but the colour version doesn't look "natural" to me. It still has that slightly weird look that some HDR shots emphasize. Any ideas for how I could improve the colour version without it looking washed out? Feel free to download and play with the shots.

I think the shot looks good and would be happy to say I took it. The focus is good and sharp and it appears to be a well lit garage, which it should be for that type of work. I don't think I would do any thing else to this photo.

Really nice picture of a nice car with the steering wheel on the correct side but I am confused!

The OP states they are from Farnham, England?? Is the car picture taken in New Zealand and have I missed that post?

I think it looks a little busy in B/W, but you are really close with the color, nice car!

I think the car looks great in the color photo. When I first opened the post the first thing that struck me was the cans and stuff on the wall really pop. Do you think it would help to tone them down?
